Per se, the newcomers will feature new axles that are around 150kg (330lbs) lighter than the outgoing ones, and when combined with other weight-saving steps, the base X5 is looking to tip the scales at 1,814kg (4,000lbs).
Alongside lighter materials, BMW will offer a range of fuel-efficient engines with a twist, including the usual V6 and V8 engines. The twist comes in a form of two new 4-cylinder engines, one petrol and one diesel, with the latter produces 242bhp (245PS/180kW), and a plug-in hybrid system that will feature a 345bhp (350PS/257kW) inline-6 petrol unit that's linked to a 108bhp (110PS/81kW) electric motor.

While the outgoing X6 was criticised for its poor rear visibility and lack of rear headroom, the new model will feature a more functional design that will improve rear visibility and increase rear headroom.
Internally, both vehicles will adopt a cabin similar to the 5-Series GT, which will include optional amenities like wood inserts, in-car Internet, nappa leather seats, satellite navigation system, and a panoramic glass sunroof etc.
