The Golf R and the Scirocco R on trackWith the reveal of the VW Golf R at Frankfurt, we have video of both of Volkswagen’s ‘R’ cars – the Golf R & Scirocco R – on video.We got the reveal of the VW Sirocco R back in May. With 265bhp it’s the most powerful Scirocco ever made, and a very good looking car in to the bargain. But even though we’d take the Scirocco over the Golf every day of the week, the Golf is the big seller. So the reveal of the VW Golf R at Frankfurt last week is big news for Golf lovers.
And the Golf R does go one better than the Scirroco R. Still equipped with VW’s 265bhp turbo 4-pot it also gets endowed with the latest version of VW’s 4Motion all wheel drive.
But pretty pictures of the new Golf R are not really enough. We need to see it in motion. So when a VW video of the Golf R and Scirocco R on track dropped in this morning we knew there’d be one or two of you who’d enjoy it (well, maybe more than one or two). And it’s not a bad video. It’s not quite as action-packed as the 458 Italia video we brought you the other day. It does have a ‘Directors Theme’ – this time G-Force simulators. But it’s not as bad as the Reventon Roadster video from Friday – that was just about everything but the Reventon Roadster.
