VW Eos BlueMotion Technology revealed

The VW Eos Bluemotion

Volkswagen has been busy rolling out BlueMotion Eco versions of cars across the range, and the New Year sees the BlueMotion tweaks applied to the VW Eos.A New Year, but still VW are rolling out new BlueMotion Models. This time on the Eos.

The usual tweaks apply to give the Eos its BlueMotion status – regenerative braking, start-stop, hill-hold and a gear change light – but this is the first time (unless we’ve missed something along the way) that VW has utilised its BlueMotion toys on a petrol engine.

The new entry-level 1.4 TSI lump comes with a six speed manual ‘box and manages to generate around 120 horses, giving a 0-60mph of just under 11 seconds and a top speed of 121mph. Fuel consumption is 45.6mpg and CO2 emissions are 144g/km – a drop from 152g/km over the outgoing non-BlueMotion 1.4 TSI. Not a huge saving, but it will drop you a VED band and save you almost 50p a week. Whoopee!

You can have the BlueMotion Eos in either S or SE trim. Even in S trim you get kit like Climate, ESP, electric windows and 16″ alloys. The Eos BlueMotion S will set you back £20,695. For an extra £1,100 you can get the SE trim which adds 17″ alloys, sports seats, leather wheel, parking sensors and auto lights and wipers.

The VW Eos BlueMotion is now available to order. Just in time for a bit of ‘Eco’ open-topped driving by the time it gets delivered.
