And it has been interesting. Even VW seem pretty chuffed with the coverage they’ve had. They got 1,000 video applications to enter the People’s Reviewer competition; the reviews the competitors did have had 165k views and 12,500 people have actually voted (that’s 12,400 family and friends of the competitors plus the 100 or so of you who jumped over to have a say!).
But now it’s the end of the competition. The final three have done their stuff and their efforts are up online for votes. Harriet’s challenge for the final was to take the Tiguan to Oxford and navigate around using cryptic clues. Now I used to know Oxford pretty well a few years ago ( it was a good freebie weekend in my late teens, with friends who were pretending to study hard whilst enjoying the delights of the Dreaming Spires). But every time I’ve gone back in the last few years there’s a different one-way, or road blocked off or some mad cap scheme by a barmy town planner going on. So no easy deal.
Johnny got sent off to a farm for an adventure involving sheep ( no, not that sort of adventure), and the third finalist, Eric, got to spend the day on the track with the Tiguan. So, a diverse set of outings.
It’s been a pretty decent effort, and will hopefully show car makers that the best way to promote is online. The final reviews are worth the watch, so if you’re interested jump over and have a look.
