Classic Chevy Billboards From The Woodward Dream Cruise

The annual Woodward Dream Cruise brings car fans from all over the United States to Detroit for the annual pilgrimage along Woodward Avenue. What better way to capture their attention than via nostalgic billboards, to remind participants that we used to build epic cars here. Despite its current state, Detroit used to be ground zero for the global automotive industry, and Chevy’s former ad agency (Campbell Ewald) did an effective job of communicating just that.

You’ve probably seen a lot of these before, since the ads were run over a six year period ranging from 2002 to 2007. It’s ironic that those were some of the bleakest year’s in GM’s history, at least in terms of exciting product offerings. At least their ad agency (who, adding even more irony, was kicked to the curb in 2010) knew how to stir up emotion. Anyway, enjoy, and thanks to Ed for reminding me of these great ads.
